Intensive Outpatient Program

When weekly sessions are not enough, but you are not leaving your life behind.

Our intensive outpatient program gives you real structure and a group of people doing the same work, a few mornings a week, while you stay home, keep your job, and stay close to family.

Intensive Outpatient Program: what it is

Intensive outpatient, or IOP, sits between weekly counseling and residential treatment. It is built for people who need more support and structure than a single session a week, while still living their lives.

A lot of the work happens in the peer-to-peer part of group: hearing from people who understand, and being heard. Clients tell us this is the part that makes the difference.

IOP might be right if

If you are not sure whether it fits, a conversation will sort it out.

  • Weekly sessions have not been enough to keep you steady
  • You are stepping down from detox or a higher level of care and want support staying on track
  • You need structure and accountability without leaving home, work, or family
  • You want to be around other people in recovery instead of doing it alone

How we work on this together

You start with a conversation so we understand where you are and whether IOP is the right fit. If a different level of care makes more sense, we will tell you.

Groups meet on a set schedule each week, currently Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings, for a total of nine hours of group a week. A doctor oversees medication for clients who need it.

The work is practical: building coping skills, understanding what drives the using, and leaning on the group. You stay connected to your own counselor the whole way through.

What to expect

  • A fit conversation first

We talk through where you are and whether IOP is right, or whether another level of care would serve you better.

  • Group, a few mornings a week

A set weekly schedule of group sessions, currently three mornings a week, so you have structure without leaving your life behind.

  • Real peer support

Much of the work is peer-to-peer: people who understand, doing the same work alongside you, plus your own counselor.

Confidentiality

Recovery you do not do alone

IOP puts a group of people who understand in the room with you, plus your own counselor. What you share stays private, within the limits the law and professional ethics require.

Common questions

About intensive outpatient program

If your question is not here, just ask. There is no wrong question and no judgment in it.

How is IOP different from regular counseling?

IOP is a higher level of structured support than weekly sessions, mostly in a group format, for when one session a week is not enough.

How many days a week is it?

Groups currently meet three mornings a week for nine hours of group total. Reach out and we will confirm the current schedule.

Can I keep working while I am in IOP?

Yes. IOP is designed so you can stay home, keep your job, and stay close to family while you get more support.

Is medication part of it?

It can be. A doctor oversees medication for clients who need it, and we will talk through whether that fits your situation.
